Ans:    No. Some customers only have electricity service with Con Edison.

Ans:    If a Con Edison customer switches their gas service to an ESCO and then decides to switch back to Con Edison, that customer must remain with Con Edison for 12 months.

Ques:  If the customer has two separate Con Edison account numbers for gas and electric service, does that mean the customer needs to be enrolled twice if they switch both services?

Ans:    Yes, the customer must be enrolled twice by the same consultant if both services are to be switched. This customer will have two different Ambit Energy accounts with two different account numbers.

Ans:    No. Only customers within the Con Edison delivery area are eligible to switch their service to Ambit Energy.

Ans:    Possibly, but this would be rare because electricity service is switched at the meter read date and gas service is only switched on the 1st business day of the month.

Ans:    The customer is listed twice because they are currently enrolled for gas and electricity service.

Ques:  What does “Not First In” mean in Power Zone?

Ans:    This means your customer enrollment order was cancelled because that customer is currently being enrolled with another ESCO. You should contact the customer to confirm their intent to switch to Ambit Energy and then re-enroll the customer.

Ques:  What does “Customer Account Blocked” mean in Power Zone?

Ans:    This means your customer enrollment order was cancelled because that customer account is blocked from switching service. The customer needs to contact Con Edison remove the block from the account, then contact Ambit Energy at 877-282-6248 to resubmit their enrollment.

Ques:  What does “Direct Vendor” mean in Power Zone?

Ans:    This means your customer enrollment order was cancelled because that customer is using a 3rd party bill payment vendor, preventing Con Edison from allowing the service to switch. If the customer still wants Ambit Energy service, the customer needs to contact Con Edison and cancel the 3rd party bill payment vendor and contact Ambit Energy to resubmit their enrollment.

Ques:  What does “Inactive Account” mean in Power Zone?

Ans:    This means your customer enrollment order was cancelled because that customer has an inactive Con Edison account. Ambit Energy will not be able to process the order when until the account is active.

Ques:  What does “Invalid Con Edison Account Number” mean in Power Zone?

Ans:    This means your customer enrollment order was cancelled because Con Edison does not recognize the account number entered for enrollment. Contact your customer and re-verify the Con Edison account number.

Ques:  What kind of savings does the customer get for switching to Ambit Energy for gas service?

Ans:    Ambit Energy offers the customer a 7% discount for the first 65 days. Ambit Energy also guarantees a 1% annual savings on gas service compared to Con Edison, or a check will be sent for the difference at the end of 12 months of service.

Ques:  How long does the customer receive a discount for switching gas service to Ambit Energy?

Ans:    The discount period is 65 days from the effective start date of the 7% discount promotion. Ambit Energy sends a Terms of Service letter to each customer regarding this promotion.

Ans:    Yes, a customer will receive 1 Travel Rewards Point for every therm used.

Ques:  Does Ambit Energy offer both basic and full gas service?

Ans:    Yes. (Full service means gas is used for heating the home or apartment. Basic gas service means gas is used for kitchen appliances, gas fireplace, etc...)

Ques:  If a customer has a question about their bill should they contact Ambit Energy or Con Edison?

Ans:    If the billing question is referencing anything other than Ambit Energy’s rates or taxes, the customer should be directed to Con Edison customer service. The customer should be told to have their Con Edison account number available when calling Con Edison with inquiries.

Ques:  When a customer’s gas service switches to Ambit Energy, what will their first Con Edison bill with Ambit Energy gas service look like?

Ans:    The customer will receive two partial bills from Con Edison for the first billing cycle. One bill will have usage for Con Edison gas service and the other bill will have usage for Ambit Energy gas service.

Ques:  Why does it appear Ambit Energy is billing the customer at a rate that is higher than Con Edison’s current rate this month?

Ans:    We offer 7% discount off of Con Edison’s current published rate, and since Con Edison does not publish their month’s rate until the 10th of the month, some customers whose bills get sent between the 1st and the 10th get billed using the previous month’s rate. This is the same for all ESCOs who offer a 7% discount for the first 65 days. This is why Ambit Energy guarantees a 1% year end savings on your gas service compared to Con Edison, or a check will be sent for difference at the end of 12 months of service.
